Mid-sagittal cut to area function transformations: Direct measurements of mid-sagittal distance and area with MRI
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents a comparative study of transformations used to compute the area of cross-sections of the vocal tract from the mid-sagittal measurements of the vocal tract. MRI techniques have been used to obtain both mid-sagittal distances and cross-sections of the vocal tract for French oral vowels uttered by two subjects. The measured crosssectional areas can thus be compared to the cross-sectional areas computed by the different transformations. The evaluation is performed with a jackknife method where the parameters of the transformation are estimated from all but one measurement of a speaker’s vocal tract region and evaluated on the remaining measurement. This procedure allows the study of both the performance of the different forms of transformation as a function of the vocal tract region and the stability of the transformation parameters for a given vocal tract region. Three different forms of transformation are compared: linear, polynomial and power function. The estimation performances are also compared with four existing transformations. 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Morphometrical Evaluation of Corpus Callosum Using Mid-Sagittal Brain MRI Images in Patients With Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis Referred to Besat Hospital in Hamadan from April 2011 To April 2021; A Retrospective Study
Introduction: Corpus callosum (CC) as an intracranial organ is located in midline of cerebrum communicating both right and left hemispheres. CC undergoes morphological changes in multiple sclerosis (MS). Since the morphometrical changes of organs are directly associated with geographical regions, thus the aim of this study was to investigate the morphological alteration of CC in patients with r...
متن کاملMRI study of the lumbar spine in achondroplasia. A morphometric analysis for the evaluation of stenosis of the canal.
We carried out an MRI study of the lumbar spine in 15 patients with achondroplasia to evaluate the degree of stenosis of the canal. They were divided into asymptomatic and symptomatic groups. We measured the sagittal canal diameter, the sagittal cord diameter, the interpedicular distance at the mid-pedicle level and the cross-sectional area of the canal and spinal cord at mid-body and mid-disc ...
متن کاملThree-dimensional measurement of the vocal tract by MRI
Recent studies have shown that MRI techniques are reliable to measure mid-sagittal cuts of the vocal tract. Three-dimensional images of the vocal tract have been proposed e.g. by Foldvick et al. [6], [7] but despite this advance, these images do not offer any accurate measurement of sagittal cuts or area functions. Advance in MRI performances allows to collect data much faster and with a better...
